Meeting times of the Old Regular Baptist
Our rotating meetings
Most Old Regular Baptist churches meet once a month at their home church. I know that that makes it sound like we only go to church one weekend out of the month, but that is not true. Our meeting structure is such that we visit sister churches on the other weekends. For example my home church’s meeting time is on the second weekend of each month. We conduct our business meetings on Saturday morning and then have services on Saturday night and Sunday morning. In months that have a 5th weekend, we also have service at my home church. There are times that I visit as many as 9 of our sister churches over the course of a month. We enjoy this type fellowship because it allows us to get out and visit many of our brothers and sisters we would not normally see. The type of meeting structure we have dates back to the time of the circuit preachers being somewhere different each weekend. We also feel that we have biblical support for this model of church meeting from Revelations 22:2. It may sound complicated but it really isn’t once you get used to it.
How we count weekends in the Union Association
The first weekend is the first full Saturday and Sunday in a month. An odd Sunday is if the month comes in on a Sunday or if there is a fifth weekend in the month such as January 28 and 29, 2011.
